| US says its troops in central Baghdad, BBC reporter has not seen any yet |

The US military said on Saturday that its troops were now operating in central Baghdad, while a BBC correspondent reporting from the center of the Iraqi capital said he had not seen any US troops there yet.
Earlier in the day, witnesses said Iraqi forces were locked in fierce fighting with the advancing US forces just some 10 km from the center of Baghdad. And a US commander said a contingent of US troops supported by tanks and armored vehicles rolled into Baghdad.
Other reports said US tanks pushed into the southern outskirts of Baghdad Saturday morning.
