An unidentified target in eastern Baghdad was hit late Sunday, while explosions and heavy anti-aircraft fire were heard as a new wave of US-led bombardment started.
Fireballs and plumes of black smoke were seen billowing over on the east bank of the Tigris River in the Iraqi capital, while ambulances rushed to the site for rescue.
This was the fourth night that Baghdad came under air strikes since Thursday when the US-British forces launched the invasion under the name of disarming Iraq of weapons of mass destruction.
Air raids have become routine in Baghdad at predawn and the beginning of every evening since Thursday.
