Strong bombardment resumed at 9 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) Sunday in central and western Baghdad, the latest in a succession of US and British plane and missile attacks.
Huge explosions rocked the Iraqi capital minutes after air raid warning siren sounded, a Xinhua correspondent reported.
One explosion was heard in downtown Baghdad and several others seemed to have hit the outskirts of the city.
The blasts followed a few explosions which hit Baghdad before dawn.
Meanwhile, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit also came under air attack by missile and bombs. Four people were killed there in air strikes on Friday night.
Despite continuous bombardment, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein appeared on television three times on Saturday, indicating he is still in control.
State television showed a smiling Saddam in military uniform meeting a war council of his top advisors, who "voiced satisfaction at the resistance and heroism displayed by the armed forces" since the war began early Thursday.
Electricity in parts of south Baghdad was briefly cut after several explosions were heard Saturday night but was restored later.
The US-led coalition forces launched a devastating "shock and awe" bombing campaign on Friday.
