Russian president's visit to China

Russian President Vladimir Putin started his official visit to Beijing on December 1. He came at a time when the new lineup of Chinese leadership has just been produced at the recently concluded 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and when NATO has just announced its plan of east-forward expansion. Plus, it takes place right after the UN adopted the Resolution of 1441 and resumed its weapon inspection mission to Baghdad. Would there be anything new in the relationship between Moscow and Beijing and do the two countries need each other more than anyone else?

We are honored to have Mr. Tao Wenzhao, deputy director of Institute of American Studies with Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Mr. Jia Qingguo, professor of Peking University in our studio.
