Warriors of Ancient Ba Tribe

In the museum by Qingjiang River, archeologists have sorted out some nearly complete sets of Ba remains. By studying the millennia-old bones, many things were clarified. In some bones there were even found some arrowheads. The hyperplasia or perforation of some bones indicate that some of the Ba people suffered bone diseases.

There is some illness in the joint. But the thighbone is rather thick and strong. So the ancient Ba people worked very hard, resulting in illness. But they were big in stature.

Evidently this spine was once compressed, which experts believe, is not the result of heavy load but over-jumping. Is this a sign that the dead man was a warrior? The spine was compressed when the man was either pursuing an enemy or being pursued himself. Whatever the reason, his life was changed from that point on.

In January 2003, the skull of a Ba person excavated in Qingjiang valley was sent to Chongqing Forensic Science and Technology Research Institute. Experts hoped that an image of this person could be reproduced through modern reconstruction technology.
