Profile:
The 32-year-old Hao Haidong is universally considered one of China's finest strikers, and for good reason. The talented attacker has made a significant name for him, attracting international attention while also establishing himself as China's most outspoken and fearless player in the face of public opinion.
A severe injury kept the Dalian Shide marksman out for a largish chunk of China's historic run through qualifying for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/JapanTM. He was out for nearly 17 months with a broken arm. But Yugoslav-born coach Bora Milutinovic still fully intends to make use of the gifted goal scorer at this year's finals.
In 2001, Hao helped his club side cause quite a stir in Asia, upsetting J League favorites Shimizu S-Pulse in the Asian Cup Winner's Cup semi-final on their way to a shock berth in the final of the competition.
Hao's goal-scoring acumen saw him earn the C League's golden boot as top scorer in the nation's top league.
