10-man Brazil beat England to reach World Cup semis

Brazil, one man short since the 57th minute, beat England 2-1 to reach the World Cup semifinals at Shizuoka, Japan, Friday.

Seaman, who thought the shot would fly over the bar, failed to make a save as the ball flew over his head into the net.

Ronaldinho was expelled for a tackle at English defender Danny Mills at the 57th minute.

Rivaldo canceled England's lead in the first half injury time as he scored his fifth goal of the tournament after he connected aperfect cross by Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho broke down through the middle and tore England's defensive wall. He sent the ball to the right for Rivaldo, who drove the ball into the right-hand corner of David Seaman's net.

Rivaldo now ties teammate Ronaldo and German striker Miroslav Klose in the goal tally

Michael Owen, troubled with a groin injury and rarely seen in the first 20 minutes, had put England ahead in the 23rd minute as he took advantage of a defensive error by Lucio.

The Liverpool striker calmly waited for Brazilian goalkeeper Marcos to dive to his right before lifting the ball into the opposite corner of the net.
