I hope to play in European Leagues, says Chinese defender Li Weifeng

"My dream is not to play against such Brazilian stars as Rivaldo and Ronaldo in the World Cup, but to play against them in Europe's major leagues," Chinese defender Li Weifeng said when answering a question raised by a Brazilian reporter in Sogwipo. " Playing against them(Brazilians) in Europe means much more as it shows Chinese players reach a much higher level of standard," he explained.

Li said that he had learnt a lot about the game during his three-year stay in Brazil and he would like to re-visit the country as a tourist if he has a vocation after the World Cup finals co-hosted by South Korea and Japan.

"If I have a chance to play overseas, I would like to choose such European leagues as those in England, France, Italy, Germany and Spain, rather than in Brazil. Brazil is too far away from China.”

"I wish to play in European leagues after the World Cup. To play in a major European league and try to reach the peak of his career is the ultimate goal of any Chinese football player," Li added.
