Bora Milutinovic, who failed for the first time to lead his team into the second round of World Cup finals, said he still believes Chinese football will have a bright future.
The Chinese team, the fifth team Milutinovic led at World Cup finals, lost to Turkey 3-0 in their last group match on Thursday.
Earlier in the tournament, China also lost to Costa Rica 2-0 and Brazil 4-0.
"China have a real future. They have learned a lot already," said Milutinovic.
Milutinovic said Chinese players' main problem is lacking of experiences: "The small things make all the difference when you're in a World Cup for the first time," he said.
"Our young team kept going until the end and did everything they could to score a goal," added Milutinovic.
Milutinovic said he has not made a decision on his future: "Now I'm finished. I was happy to work in China. But I need a rest now and think about my future."
