Chinese referee Lu Jun says red card is right decision

Chinese referee Lu Jun said the red card is a right decision and he was satisfied with his first World Cup refereeing experience.

Lu Jun, the first Chinese referee in the World Cup finals, flashed out the first red card of the tournament for Croatia's Boris Zivkovic, which resulting in Mexico's 1-0 victory in Monday's Group G game.

Zivkovic stuck his right leg out on the advancing Cuauhtemoc Blanco, bringing the attacker down while making no contact with the ball in the 61st minute. Lu Jun had no hesitation in expelling Zivkovic and pointing to the spot before Blanco converting the goal.

Lu Jun said he was praised by the referee committee and FIFA officials for his decision after the game.

"I took a great place and had a clear view on the scene at that moment," Lu said. "Blanco had a clear chance to score but he was toppled down in the box. I wasn't hesitated. No players contested the penalty."

"I'm happy to be the first Chinese referee at the World Cup finals. I'm satisfied with my work," he added.

Lu confessed he made couple of minor mistakes during the match, but he was not worried.

"Once I was hesitated on a whistle and another time I was a little rushed. I want to do better in the next game."
