In the wake of the war against the Japanese invasion, over a million pieces of precious paintings, calligraphic works, archives, bronze wares, and porcelains in the Palace Museum were transferred to safe places. Completed over a period of 16 years, the transfer covered more than a dozen provinces and cities amidst bombardments and mishaps. It was on the sixth day of Japanese occupation of Shanhaiguan that the board of the Palace Museum made a decision on the transfer. By February 6, 1933, the first 2118 boxes had arrived in four batc hes at Shanghai. Further efforts in the following three consecutive months resulted in the transfer of 33048 boxes in total. The "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" signaled the all-round invasion of China by the Japanese, followed by the breakout of "Song-Hu Resistance War". Another 80 boxes of the most valuable antiques were transferred to Sichuan Province by road, which were eventually stored at "Feixianyan", Shiyougou, Baxian County near Chongqing. More antiques were transported in 9369 boxes via waterway to Angu Town of Sichuan Province. All the remained were moved to Zhengzhou by train, and were later settled down in the Giant Buddha Temple east to Ermei County of Sichuan. After a difficult journey, all the antiques finally survived the encirclement, chase, interception, and wanton bombing. This documentary is the first reveal of the "exile trip" as well as the first open unveiling of a large number of facts.
